Cass runs away with SW10 golf title

The Cassopolis golf team ran away with the SouthWest10 Conference title on Tuesday.

The Rangers fired a team score of 346 on the day, finishing better than 70 shots ahead of second-place Comstock’s 418. White Pigeon was third with 425, Marcellus came in fourth at 507 and Centreville was fifth at 526.

For the final team standings on the season, Cassopolis finished first followed by Comstock, White Pigeon, Marcellus and Centreville.

Tuesday’s conference championships were held at Klinger Lake County Club. There, Brayden Westrate shot a round of 82 to earn medalist honors. Kendon Williams and Logan Pflug of Cassopolis were second at 87 each.

Luke Gropp led White Pigeon on the day. He fired a round of 93 to finish fifth overall. Owen Keo carded a round of 103 to finish ninth while Marcellus’ Jack Lamoreaux finished 10th overall at 104.

Centreville’s Landon Bingaman fired a 108 for 11th.

White Pigeon’s Isaiah Ryall shot a 110, Cole Jackson fired a 119. Jezz Ryall shot 123.

Chris Andrews shot 122 for Marcellus. Mindy Boyer added a 131 on the day, Micah Gooden shot 150 and Hunter Hurley added a 153.

Completing the season, Westrate finished as the top overall golfer for the league. RJ Drews and Pflug of Cass rounded out the top three. Gropp finished fifth to earn First Team All-Conference.

Keo and Jezz Ryall both earned Second Team All-Conference. Lamoreaux and Bingaman were both named Second Team All-Conference as well.
