Jack Towns, a senior at Whitesboro High School, has been elected Mohawk Valley Student of the Week.

Here's what his nominator had to say about him: This young man has been a tremendous leader for his class and he has brought an exceptional amount of joy and laughter to our building.  Mr. Towns has always worked to his highest potential in the classroom and his teachers have absolutely loved having this young man in the classes.  In the time I have known Jack, I don’t think he has ever had a bad day, he has an infectious smile and a very caring personality.   Over the course of four years, Jack has maintained a cumulative average of 94.92% or a 3.98 cumulative GPA.   For the last three springs, Jack has shined brightly for the Whitesboro track and field team. Mr. Towns is extremely talented in music and has recorded his own CD and plays in numerous local venues.

The Observer-Dispatch and Times Telegram have teamed up to launch a Student of the Week feature, where school administrators are invited to nominate outstanding high school students each week. Students, staff and the community can then vote in a poll to pick a winner for the week.
