Castlewood man identified following one-vehicle crash in Estelline

Nov. 20—ESTILLINE, S.D. — A Castlewood, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died following a one-vehicle crash in Estelline on Monday, Nov. 14.

Authorities responded to reports at approximately 11:44 a.m. of a one-vehicle crash on 465 Avenue, just south of 193 Street, near the northern city limits of Estelline on Monday.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 1996 Dode Dakota pickup was southbound on 465 Avenue when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled.

Gabriel Hernandez, the 41-year-old driver, was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the crash. All information released thus far is only preliminary.
