Explosions rocked Kyiv a few minutes after the air raid alert was triggered. The blasts were caused by the work of air defense forces engaging at least two Russian ballistic missiles over the city.

According to preliminary reports, the Russians launched 11 ballistic missiles at the capital city, with air defenses in Kyiv and surrounding oblasts shooting all of them down.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that debris from downed missiles fell in the capital’s Podil and Obolon districts. One person was wounded and hospitalized in the Podil district, the mayor added.

Explosions also rocked Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District, in the northeast of the capital, with fragments of downed missiles falling there.

The fresh attack followed one at night just a few hours earlier, when the Russian army launched missiles and Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones at targets across Ukraine.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 37 cruise missiles, 29 Shahed suicide drones, and one reconnaissance drone during the overnight attack.
