This cat was found 'frozen and unresponsive' in snow. An animal hospital saved her life

An animal hospital in Montana was greeted with an astonishing sight: a cat frozen in snow. Fortunately, this story had the purr-fect ending.

The Animal Clinic of Kalispell shared the "amazing" survival story of Fluffy, an outdoor cat found frozen in the snow outside her owners' home.

The clinic shared Fluffy's tale Tuesday in a Facebook post.

"You could tell it was a cat when she came in, but really she was just so packed in ice and snow, you couldn’t really tell she was alive until you looked at her and started listening to her and realized that she’s still alive," said Dr. Jevon Clark, a veterinarian at the animal clinic in an interview with USA TODAY. "Just absolutely frozen."

When Fluffy arrived, she was unresponsive with a temperature under 90 degrees, which was less than the hospital's thermometers could read, said Clark. Typically, cats have a temperature between 99.5-102.5 degrees Fahrenheit, according to petMD.

Vets tried reviving Fluffy using warm water, as well as lots of blow dryers and towels.

"She wasn’t really responding for about the first half-hour, but then she started at least, acting like she was going to be alive," said Clark.

The clinic knew Fluffy would survive once they heard growling. "She’s a little bit crabby, and so that’s how we knew things were probably gonna be okay, when she started getting crabby with us, that things were alright," said Clark.
