These $18 practically-invisible stickers keep my cat from destroying my couch

Despite spending a fortune on toys, scratching posts and virtually anything my cat could possibly want, she only cares about two things: Empty boxes and the sides of my couch. While the boxes are harmless enough, her obsession with my couch has taken a toll — the sides are scratched through and torn, and no amount of couch covers can protect it. The Stenlucca Cat Scratch Deterrent Furniture Protectors are an under-$20 solution to my cat's obsession with my sofa. They come in a set of six 17-inch by 12-inch shields, but you can easily cut them to fit your couch, loveseat, or armchair. They're just like stickers — peel them off the sheet and place them where you need.

The sheets themselves are almost totally transparent, and they easily bend over any curves. They stay in place on their own, but if you have a particularly persistent cat, the set does come with twist pins for extra security. The shields are safe to use on polyester, acrylic, cotton and more — just not real or faux leather.

Most importantly: They really do work. While my cat still tries to claw at my couch from time to time, her claws can't get through the plastic stickers, try as she might. Plus, unlike some other couch shields, they're sticky on just one side, so I don't have to deal with an angry cat who got her paw stuck somewhere it shouldn't be.
