Country music will play in the theaters at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Entertainment also planned for the Modesto region April 22-28 includes the returns of festivals celebrating Portuguese culture and Earth Day.
Country music
The Roots & Boots Tour featuring country artists Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye pulls into the Gallo Center. They’ll perform with stories and songs on stage together. Expect hits such as “You’ve Got to Stand For Something,” “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” “Love, Me” and more.

The Music City Hit-Makers are award-winning songwriters who wrote for Nashville’s biggest stars. The acoustic show coming to the Gallo Center features Wendell Mobley and Lee Thomas Miller, performing songs they wrote for Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Jamey Johnson, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley and Chris Stapleton.

Portuguese Fest
The San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival returns to the Stanislaus County Fairground from the Carlos Vieira Foundation and the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America. The event kicks off Saturday, April 22, with a parade, followed by traditional Portuguese dancing, music, food, a carnival, vendors and more. On Sunday, there will be a Portuguese bloodless bullfight at 4 p.m.

Earth Day
The city of Modesto brings back Earth Day in the Park after three years of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Community organizations, sustainable businesses, food vendors, activities, games and more will be at Graceada Park for the family-friendly event.

Modesto Garden Tour
The Modesto Garden Club brings back its Spring Garden Tour. Patrons can visit and view the gardens at five homes in central Modesto, along with the garden club’s demonstration gardens. The homes are at 916 Melinda Lane, 918 Sycamore Ave., 1308 Brady Ave., 922 Valerie Lane and 621 Magnolia Ave. The demonstration garden is at 622 14th St.
