MARSHFIELD – Grab your bibs. LobsterFest is back.

The third annual Marshfield LobsterFest will take  over Town Pier with live music, food and activities for all ages from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17. The rain date is Sept. 18.

In addition to food and drink vendors, about 40 artisans will sell locally crafted goods. For children, there will be games, marine education, face-painting, a bouncy house and a mermaid hair booth.

Organized by the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, the first LobsterFest was held in 2019 and celebrates the town's rich fishing and lobstering history.

There will be an educational component in collaboration with the Massachusetts Lobster Association, the U.S. Coast Guard, the North and South Rivers Watershed Association and Mass Audubon.

"We wanted to highlight what a great coastal community Marshfield is," Marshfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lara Brait said.

Festivalgoers can expect fresh seafood from  the Sea Box and the Lobsta Love food truck. Also available will be grilled cheese from Mom on the Go and Mexican food from the South Shore Taco Guy.

Brait suggests vendors decorate their tents with lobster and coastal themes.

"It adds to the full vibe this year," she said.

Community response has been tremendous, she said.

"We have gotten more sponsors than ever this year," Brait said.

Live music will be provided by the Leon Street Rockers and Acoustic Tandem. Children's entertainment will include an "Under the Sea" musical performance from Theatre Plus and a Lobster and Sea Story Hour.

LobsterFest draws more than 3,000 people each year. Tickets are $5 for ages 12 and older. VIP tent access costs $100 and includes a raw bar with seafood provided by Mullaney's Seafood, a T-shirt, a swag bag, reserved seating, yard games and private restrooms.
