"The Boss" is headed to Arrow Rock.

Not Bruce Springsteen, though he currently is on tour. But "Who's the Boss?" sitcom star and veteran song-and-dance man Tony Danza will perform at the legendary Lyceum Theatre, bringing a one-night-only engagement to the lovely little town April 15.

Danza's "Standards and Stories" show unites "timeless music with wit, charm, storytelling, and a dash of soft shoe and ukulele performances," the Lyceum notes in an event description.

Backed by a four-piece band, the soon-to-be 72-year-old performer will weave together beloved numbers from the Great American Songbook with anecdotes from his bright-lights life.

Danza first crossed most fans' radars in the late 1970s and early '80s as Tony Banta on the hit TV show "Taxi" — the role as an aspiring boxer hewed closely to Danza's own ascent. His work on "Who's the Boss?" from 1984-1992 earned Danza three Golden Globe nominations.

Danza's love for the stage, and for the crooning style of classic artists, has defined this chapter in his career and brought a fuller picture of his talents to audiences.

Reviewing a late-2022 show, Patch's Lisa Finn praised Danza for granting "an extraordinary nod to the variety shows of days gone by with timeless elegance, grace, and knockout talent."

His performance evokes an era "when the songs were, as Danza said, love songs," Finn added. "Songs that spoke to the magic of moonlight. ... The kind of songs you're still humming with fondness years later."

Tickets for Danza's Lyceum engagement range from $85-$100; $130-$150 for premium seating which, as the Lyceum website notes, is almost sold out. Visit https://lyceumtheatre.org/ to learn more.
