Catriona Gray gives Filipinos the best Christmas gift
18 Dec – Catriona Gray considered her victory in bringing back the Miss Universe crown as the best Christmas gift ever for the Philippines.
As reported on PEP, the beauty queen, who gave the first interview since becoming the new Miss Universe, shared that she was uncertain at first that she won the crown even after host Steve Harvey announced her name.
"But when you hear the crowd - of course so many Filipinos are so passionate and they are all here - and to hear the word [Philippines], I was like, Oh, it is me," she said, adding that she hasn't even wrapped her mind around it.
When asked what she will do first after being crowned, Gray responded that she just wants to hug her parents.
"I just saw them at the back there. I'm just going to give them a big hug and see my team to say thank you, because I couldn't have done this without so many different people.
"So many different effort and time of different people. I just want to say thank you to them first," she added.
It has been three years since the Philippines won the Miss Universe crown, ever since Pia Wurtzbach won it in 2015.
