Caught on camera: Florida police officers appear to race cruisers in viral video

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A viral video showing Florida officers participating in what appears to be a race between each other caught the attention of the police department.

The video, posted to social media Monday by “Only in Dade,” captured three Miami-Dade Police Department cruisers taking off at an intersection, accelerating as they continued down the road in an apparent race.

“We got the Charger versus the, versus the Ford, versus the other Ford,” the driver who recorded the incident said. “You see? He tellin’ them out the window, ‘You ready? When the light go green.’ See the police doin’ a hit now.”

The police cruiser’s tires could be heard screeching as soon as the light turned green.

Miami-Dade Police officials confirmed to WFLA that they’re working to identify the officers involved and “appropriate administrative action” will be coming.
