Cause of death released for Indianapolis comedian Ron Sexton, best known as Donnie Baker

Ohio officials have determined the cause of death for comedian Ron Sexton.

Sexton, best known for down-home character Donnie Baker on "The Bob & Tom Show," was on tour when he was found dead in his hotel room July 21. He was 52.

Sexton died of "combined toxic effects from fentanyl and ethanol (alcohol) and his manner of death was accidental," said Justin Weber, chief investigator with the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office in Ohio.

An Indianapolis native, Sexton was a longtime comedy and baseball lover. He attended Franklin Central High School, where he worked at the school’s radio station as a baseball commentator.

Beginning in 2005, Sexton performed as Donnie Baker on the "The Bob & Tom Show," voicing other characters like Floyd the Trucker and Kenny Tarmac. He delighted fans with celebrity impressions and made "many, many people happy during his more than 20 years on the 'The Bob & Tom Show,'" wrote show host Tom Griswold in a Facebook post, which has garnered more than 10,000 reactions.
