Details: Two seagulls had got into the engine of the Su-34 bomber. Their remains were found during the inspection of the wreckage. This, according to Russian media, was the cause of the plane crash. The birds hit the plane's engine as it took off.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation did not make any statements about the causes of the crash of the Su-34.
