CBS to continue airing reruns of ratings darling ‘Yellowstone’ in 2024. Here’s the schedule
After smashing television ratings this fall, CBS will continue airing reruns of “Yellowstone” in 2024.
CBS began airing old episodes of “Yellowstone” in September after NFL games on Sunday. The network has ran seasons 1 and 2 already, and is now planning to start airing season 3 on Jan. 14, 2024.
This was the first time “Yellowstone” has aired on CBS, since its normal home is on the Paramount Network. Both CBS and the Paramount Network are owned by Paramount Global.
“Yellowstone” has reached nearly 33 million viewers since CBS began airing the show, averaging 5.04 million viewers per episode, according to the network.
CBS is planning to air the entirety of season 3 in January, with multiple episodes every week. Here’s the schedule:

Why is CBS airing old episodes of “Yellowstone”?
CBS began airing old episodes of “Yellowstone” during a contentious time in Hollywood.
Over the summer, both the Writer’s Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) went on strike. Both guilds were pushing for more equitable contracts, with the main focus on residuals and the use of artificial intelligence in projects.
At the time, the decision to air old episodes of “Yellowstone” and more reality shows was an expected one, as studios looked to fill their television schedules with nothing new in the production pipeline with both writers and actors on strike, Variety previously reported.
In the months since, both guilds have ended their respected strikes and reached new contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
When will Paramount Network air new episodes of “Yellowstone”?
“Yellowstone” fans still have a lengthy wait before the Dutton family returns to the small screen with new adventures.
Paramount announced last month that the series’ final episodes and back half of season 5 will air in November 2024. The amount of final episodes has not been announced.
This year has been a tumultuous time for “Yellowstone” after its midseason finale aired on New Year’s Day.
Word broke in February that the back half of the latest “Yellowstone” season could be the show’s last with Costner as John Dutton. Scheduling conflicts with Costner’s multi-part western movie epic “Horizon” precluding the star from continuing his role as patriarch of the Montana ranch family.
Paramount confirmed in early May that “Yellowstone” would indeed end in its current form with the final episodes of season 5. During that announcement, the news of a sequel show, now known under the working title “2024,” was first announced.
Along with confirming “2024” in the announcement last month, Paramount also detailed that another prequel series is in the works titled — “1944.”
The show will be the third prequel series in the “Yellowstone” universe after “1883” premiered in 2021 and “1923” in 2022. Each of the prequel shows have been about the Dutton family’s struggle to survive in each of the year’s presented.
Currently, “Yellowstone” fans can catch series creator Taylor Sheridan’s latest western — “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” — on Paramount+.
