JUSTIN ADAMS: We're covering Colorado first on CBS4 News. Thank you for joining us. I'm Justin Adams.
Jefferson County is asking for the public's help in finding a man who may be luring small children to him by offering toys. A father confronted the suspect and he took off. Witnesses say he is in his 30s with a medium build and dark facial hair-- possibly salt and pepper-- the car is a gold sedan.
A brazen attack on an eBike store in Cherry Creek. Two men drove a U-Haul through the store windows. They didn't get away with anything, thanks to some smart employees there. Now police are trying to identify them.
And Elitch Gardens is open for the season to pass holders. After a long shutdown due to the pandemic, next weekend they will be open to the general public and you have to go online to reserve a spot in the park. We have more information on all these stories and the latest headlines on our free 24-hour streaming news service, CBSN Denver. You'll find us on your favorite streaming device. Here's Chris Spears with Colorado's First Weather.
CHRIS SPEARS: Well, this is the last week of April. And it will be a busy one for us in the weather department, and that is because of this-- a new storm system coming into the West coast will be moving into the central Rocky Mountain regions late Monday early Tuesday. But the impact will really come Tuesday into Wednesday with mountain snow, some showers and thunderstorms on the plains, and possibly even a little bit of a mix in Denver. We'll just have to see how it all times out.
Right now, the storm system is impacting the Pacific Northwest and parts of Northern California, for instance, with mountain snow and valley rain. Not a terribly cold storm-- you see a lot of 50s and 60s out that way. Out ahead of it it's hot-- 94 in Phoenix. Denver windy today, climbing well into the 70s.
Eastern side of the country a little cool in the upper Midwest-- Twin Cities cloudy in the 40s, same thing for Chicago. Heading over to New England, a little rain from New York on up toward Boston-- 50s and 60s there. 80s to 90 in Florida with some showers and thunderstorms, and we're clearing out the Gulf Coast after a couple of days of stormy weather.
For your Sunday in Colorado, well into the 70s and 80s here on the Eastern plains. Look at that, not too far from the 90 degree mark potentially in Southeastern Colorado. 50s and 60s in the high country, 70s to near 80 out West and we'll do that again on Monday. Both days, Sunday and Monday, featuring fire weather concern because it is so warm and dry with the wind. West to Southwest winds could gust to 40 miles per hour over the next few afternoons. There's the cold front, Monday night into Tuesday, will knock our temperatures down about 20 to 25 degrees with some showers and storms, possibly a mix Tuesday night into Wednesday. But then we'll turn it around and warm things right back up as we wrap up April, and move into May by next weekend.
That's your latest forecast, I'm meteorologist Chris Spears.
