CCCC hosts Career Fair at Wicker Center

Mar. 30—There are plenty of jobs available locally and a career fair held Wednesday at Central Carolina Community College showed gave prospective employees the chance to hear about the companies and jobs available.

Business and services ranging from publicly trading companies such as Tesla, to health care, and local and state government agencies were on hand to tell job seekers more about career opportunities available at the hosted the 2023 CCCC Career Expo Job Fair.

Sanford Fire Department's Auburn Griffin manning the SFD booth said, "With the city building a new fire station this opens up at least 15 new jobs with the fire department, so there's lots of opportunity to build a career with the Sanford Fire Department, and we encourage those interested to give us your best and come work with us."

Central Carolina Hospital greeted attendees at a booth at the front of the event.

Sam Headen, of Central Carolina Hospital said, "We want to make sure we serve the community and show what we have to offer for potential employees to join our network of facilities."

Central Carolina Hospital HR Generalist Celia McCall added, "We are grateful to be here today. We love being able to get out and be involved in our community to share our services, as well as gain new employees to become a part of Central Carolina Hospital."

Pinehurst representatives said that more than 50 seasonal jobs are currently available in town, in the service industry, including waiting tables, bartending, golf course, and lifeguards. For more information visit Pinehurst.com/careers.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper C. Marioles spoke about the number of Troopers currently needed.

"As a Trooper you're able to help your community, you really can give back in many ways," he said. "We do need applicants very bad. We're currently short-handed, and that's in law enforcement across the board right now. We have 250 jobs to fill, and we're looking to fill those spaces."

Marioles went on to explain that an applicant must be at least 20 years old and 21 by the start date of patrol school.

Sanford Contractors is currently looking to fill 40 open positions, explained Development Director Zac West.

"These positions range from entry level laborer, to operator, and superintendents," he said. "We're looking for people with a good attitude and a willingness to learn, please contact Sanford Contractors, we will be happy to have you."

Cashion Fishing Rods representative Chelsea Wolfe was at the job fair looking for four employees to join their team.

"We're putting feelers out there, letting people know were here in Sanford, a lot of people don't know we are in Sanford, but we are, and we are hiring several positions both full-time and part-time," she said. "So, anyone that likes working with their hands, pays attention to detail and likes a good, solid, working environment, we'd love to hear from you."

And last, but not least, the local chapter of The Salvation Army is looking to hire a few people to fill important vacancies.

"We are hiring for a social services program manager, which would include the navigation center, food pantry, and rent and utility assistance program," Director Meg Moss said. "And were also hiring for our day center program coordinator for the day shelter on Maple Avenue, where those in need can get aa hot meal and take a shower, so were looking to fill those positions, and also a part-time case worker."
