CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield: ‘We are nearing the peak right now’

Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tells TODAY that “we are nearing the peak right now” in the coronavirus outbreak, but says “we have to reopen correctly” on a county by county basis. In response to new evidence that federal officials ignored early warning signs of the outbreak, he says that it “wasn’t until Feb. 28 that we saw our first community outbreak.”
