CDC's annual Christmas race and walk is Dec. 10

The Guernsey County Community Development Corporation (CDC) will hold its fifth annual 12Ks of Christmas 12K/5K Race, Fun Run and Walk at 9 a.m. on Dec. 10 at the Lore City trailhead of the Great Guernsey Trail, 204 Main St. Lore City.

In addition to the race, a toy drive will be held to support Guernsey County Secret Santa. All individuals that bring a new, unwrapped toy will be entered into a chance to win a Walmart gift card. Runners are encouraged to dress in their favorite Christmas attire or dressed as their favorite Christmas character. There will be gift certificates awarded to those best dressed.

The race is run on the paved Great Guernsey Trail and is an out-and-back event. Water and food will be provided to the runners. Unique trophies will be awarded to the top overall finishers, as well as finishers’ medals and medals for top finishers in each age category.

Runners can register online by going to www.guernseycountycdc.com and clicking on the events tab or registering in person at 905 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge. Race day registrations will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 am. The cost is as follows: Fun Run and Walk, $25 through Dec. 9, $30 on day of event; 5K is $30 through Dec. 9, $35 on day of event; 12K run is $35 through Dec. 9, $40 on day of event.

All proceeds from the race will support the CDC’s quality of life programs, such as affordable housing, workforce development, park and trail development, and free transportation to area veterans for medical and other important appointments.
