CDOT restoring crosswalk to Boulder Falls trail on Colo. 119
May 11—Work will soon begin to add a crosswalk on Colo. 119 near Boulder Falls after it was covered up during past road projects.
"There were crosswalk bars (there) quite a while back," said Jared Fiel, communication manager with the Colorado Department of Transportation. "Google Earth shows them back in 2014. Then it looks like they were blacked out by an asphalt patch."
Fiel said the crosswalk on Colo. 119, also signed in that area as Boulder Canyon Drive, will include six lines or bars and a pedestrian crossing sign. Work for the crosswalk will begin Tuesday and is expected to be completed Friday, depending on weather. Speed limits in the area will be reduced to 25 miles per hour in the construction zones.
The crosswalk is one of CDOT's "punch list items" it needs to complete before wrapping up its two-year long project to repair damage the road sustained in the 2013 flood, Fiel said.
"These are the last little bits that have to happen before we are done with the whole project," he said.
