CDOT to start construction on Firestone-Longmont mobility hub

Jan. 28—Construction begins Monday for the Colorado Department of Transportation's Firestone-Longmont mobility hub at the Interstate 25 and Colo. 119 interchange east of Longmont.

The project is one of several mobility hubs being built to improve bus service and promote regional transit along the I-25 corridor. CDOT is hoping to complete the project by August 2024, according to a Friday news release.

The hub will include two new pedestrian pickup and drop-off platforms; bus shelters with real-time departure and arrival schedules; sidewalks and bicycle storage racks; and a pedestrian underpass connecting the Park-n-Ride on the east side of I-25 to the station platforms on the west side.

Daytime construction work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, along with occasional overnight work. Drivers can expect periodic single-lane closures along both highways in addition to on-ramp, off-ramp and sidewalk closures. Speed limits will be reduced through the work zone as needed.

The project team can be reached at the project information hotline, 970-422-4201.
