Ceasefire protest expected outside VP Harris’ San Jose event

(KRON) – Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to be greeted by protesters when her Reproductive Freedoms Tour arrives in San Jose on Monday morning. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has announced plans to protest the VP’s visit.

Vice President Harris will speak at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose about reproductive rights and the upcoming election. Harris plans to highlight California lawmakers protecting abortion access after the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade.

Activists will be demanding that the Biden-Harris administration call for “a permanent ceasefire in the Israeli genocide in Gaza,” according to a press release from CAIR-SFBA.

According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, many children have been killed in Gaza due to the war.

The protests will begin at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
