Cecil College shred event celebrates Earth Day

Apr. 11—Cecil College will host a free community shred event on April 24 in celebration of Earth Day.

Residents and businesses are invited to bring personal documents for secure, on-site shredding. A mobile shred unit will be on hand to destroy materials, and people will be able to watch their documents being shredded through the unit's observation window.

There will also be a large container on-site to dispose of videotapes, floppy discs, thumb drives, X-rays, CDs and microfiche. These items will be gathered and returned to the company's disposal facility for destruction.

Items with staples and paper clips can also be shredded, according to the news release. The college will receive a certificate confirming the destruction of the items.

The shred event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Cecil College's main campus at One Seahawk Drive in North East.
