Cedar Park police: Man dies after stabbing during argument with girlfriend and her son

Cedar Park police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man who was stabbed during an argument involving his girlfriend and his girlfriend's son, officials said.

The victim, Stephen McCoy, was taken to a hospital where he died, police said. No charges were filed on Wednesday, according to a police news release.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1700 Bagdad Road, the release said.

It said investigators later determined that McCoy "was involved in a disturbance with his girlfriend when her 17-year-old son stepped in to prevent further violence."

"The disturbance continued and a pocket knife was introduced and McCoy was stabbed at least one time in the leg," the release said.

The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released, police said. Results from an autopsy of McCoy are still pending.

Police are working with the Williamson County district attorney's office to investigate the incident, the release said.
