Cedar Point opens for 2023 season on May 6, reveals new attractions

The countdown has begun: Cedar Point reopens in two days.

Michiganders love Cedar Point. So if you plan on visiting the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park soon, prepare in advance and expect to see some fun upgrades.

Cedar Point opening dates and tickets

Cedar Point, with more than 70 rides and three new features, plans on welcoming visitors May 6. The Cedar Point Shores Waterpark will open for the season May 26.

Regular one-day admission is $80 at the gate. Michigan residents can save on tickets with the Michigan Bundle or the Two Day Michigan Bundle.

  • Michigan Bundle: $49.99. Includes single day admission to Cedar Point, free parking and free drinks all day. This bundle is a limited offer that ends June 30, but tickets are valid through Sept. 10.

  • Two Day Michigan Bundle: $79.99. Includes admission to Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark, free parking and free drinks all day. Tickets are valid through Sept. 10.

Visitors can also check out any of the 2023 season passes, ranging in price from $105 to $350. Each season pass includes various perks.

If you plan on staying the night, Cedar Point also offers vacation packages that include tickets to the park, early entry and other exclusive perks that vary with each package.

Cedar Point's newest attractions

Visitors will be able to enjoy multiple new attractions, including:

  • The Boardwalk: New and existing rides, dining options and entertainment will be available along Lake Erie's shoreline in a modern interpretation of a late 1800s boardwalk. The Matterhorn, Atomic Scrambler, Calypso, Giant Wheel, Troika, Dodgem, GateKeeper and WindSeeker family attractions will now be at the Boardwalk.

  • Wild Mouse Roller Coaster: Try to capture the cheese, or escape the mice, in a new version of the original Wild Mouse roller coaster. The new ride includes cars that spin 360 degrees while taking hills, twists, dives and turns along a 1,312-foot-long track. The 52-foot-tall roller coaster will allow riders to play a game of "cat and mouse," with six mouse-themed and one cheese-themed car.

  • The Grand Pavilion: Upgrades have been made to Cedar Point's Grand Pavilion, which now serves as a major feature of the new boardwalk. The facility has been rebuilt to include a multi-story dining venue, a lake view bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and viewing decks. Visitors will be able to view the park, beach, and Lake Erie's shoreline from the Grand Pavilion.

Spring and Summer hours

Cedar Point will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays on May 9, 10, 16, and 17. The park will open every day from May 18 through September before switching to fall hours.

Cedar Point opens at 10 a.m., while Cedar Point Shores opens at 11 a.m. The park's closing hours vary between 8 and 11 p.m. each day; visitors should view operation hours online before heading to Cedar Point or Cedar Point Shores.
