Cedarville University raises $480K in part for student scholarships

Cedarville University raised over $480,000 during its Giving Tuesday initiative on November 29.

More than 450 participated in Giving Tuesday, the spokesperson said. Of those 450, 62 were first-time donors and 50 were students.

The increase in each groups’ donations led to the highest numbers in Cedarville University’s history.

The student gifts alone were estimated to have raised $3,500, the spokesperson said.

“We give thanks to God for the alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends who gave generously to the University on this worldwide giving day,” Vice President for Advancement Dr. Will Smallwood.

The monetary gifts benefit student scholarships and the “One Thousand Days Transformed” campaign, which includes the current construction of the Scharnberg Business Center, the future home of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business, the spokesperson informed.

Cedarville’s advancement division encouraged students, faculty and staff, parents and alumni to give based on challenges, the spokesperson said. 96 donors provided a gift during the Chapel Hour Challenge.

More than 200 faculty and staff members and 197 current parents joined the students and first-time donors in making financial contributions on Giving Tuesday, the spokesperson said.
