Cedarville University students benefit from $37M construction, renovation projects

Cedarville University is anything but quiet this summer as more than 45 construction, renovation, and improvement projects are currently underway on campus.

The university is spending more than $21 million on a long list of projects this summer. The projects are expected to have a $37 million economic impact on the community and represent Cedarville University’s investment in students and growth.

Some of the summer projects include constructing the new Lorne C. Scharnberg Business Center and replacing the floor in the Dixon Ministry Center, Engineering and Science Center, and the Centennial Library.

The large number of projects being worked on is the result of Cedarville’s successful One Thousand Days Transformed: The Campaign for Cedarville initiative which more than $132.4 million in financial commitments has been received toward the $175 million goal.

“There’s no doubt this has been the busiest summer for construction and renovation projects at Cedarville University in a very long time — maybe in the history of the university,” said Rod Johnson, associate vice president for operations. “This work reflects our growth as a university.

All this work is why there seemingly have been more construction workers on campus during the first part of the summer than staff members or individuals from outside camps.
