Celebrate fall now with pumpkin, seasonal beer from Stark County breweries

Move over pumpkin spice latte fans. This time of year is all about the beer.

From pumpkin-flavored brews to Oktoberfest varieties and everything in between, Stark County breweries have started releasing their seasonal beers.

Sure you can go to the grocery store and pick up some pumpkin beers, but don’t they taste better at a local brewery among friends?

Here’s a rundown of the Stark County-made pumpkin and fall-flavored beers available this season at local breweries.

Location: 120 W. Chestnut St., Alliance

Beer: Pumpkin Reaper

What the brewery says: “Pumpkin Reaper is a spice ale with 6.5 % ABV and 20 IBU. It has notes of pumpkin and fall spices, and it tastes like alcoholic pumpkin pie.”

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.5%

Release date: Second week of Sept.

Beer: Októvrios

What the brewery says: "We also have an Oktoberfest beer called Októvrios. Októvrios is a märzen with 5.8% ABV and 24 IBU. It has notes of biscuits and malt."

Release date: Aug. 13

Special note from the brewery: “We will also have a barreled aged Pumpkin Reaper and a coffee version. ... The BA Pumpkin Reaper will have notes of pumpkin, fall spices and maple bourbon. The coffee version will have the same pumpkin and fall spice notes with coffee notes. Both of these will be released in early October.”

Beer: Oktoberfest (Festbier)

What the brewery says: “A celebration of the autumn harvest, our stronger than typical version of this rich malty lager. We brew our version to target a release that coincides with the traditional start of Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich.”

Beer: The Fall of the House of Butternut (Spiced Ale)

What the brewery says: “Brewed with butternut squash, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, our twist on a pumpkin-style ale shifts the focus back to seasonal ingredients used in season. Rich and warming, this beer pairs nicely with cooler weather and holiday feasts.”

ABV: 8%

77 Brew House in Navarre will have a German-style märzen, a pumpkin ale, but the brewery didn't have more details available at the time of print. Meanwhile, Canton Brewing Co. in Canton didn't respond to multiple requests for comment on its fall seasonal beers.
