Celebrate this local restaurant's 35th anniversary with free food and giveaways

Long-standing Lafayette brand Burger Tyme is celebrating its 35th anniversary Saturday with deals to honor the occasion. First opening in 1987 Burger Tyme was met with success throughout the years. The green building now on Johnston has become a local gem.

Founded by Crowley native Braxton Moody IV Burger Tyme's original location operated from 1987 till 2000 when he decided to spend time on other ventures including family. Twenty years after retiring the restaurant his son Braxton Moody V wanted to give the brand a new life. In 2021 Burger Tyme officially reopened in a new location on Johnston Street providing great food and nostalgia for its customers.

"The brand never really died," Moody V said. "Years after the restaurant closed we would find people still talking about the brand on message boards. So when I decided to bring it back Lafayette natives were already familiar with the brand. We started by bringing back the seasoning, then migrated to pop-ups to remind everyone of the food. Now the restaurant is fully equipped and we are ready to show everyone what we can do."

The celebration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and last until 9 p.m. They will be giving away their signature ¼ lb. Cajun Blaze for every 35th customer all day. Customers receive a free anniversary T-Shirt with purchase and social media review throughout the day. Starting at 2 p.m. every 50th customer will receive a free ¼ lb Cajun Blaze every hour with the purchase of fries and drink.
