Celebrate National Cinema Day with $3 movie tickets at these Shreveport movie theaters

National "days" on the calendar are a dime a dozen. Well, movie lovers can get excited because the inaugural National Cinema Day has been announced by the Cinema Foundation for September 3, 2022, and movie theaters across the U.S. are celebrating with $3 tickets.

Labor Day weekend is notoriously slow at the movie theaters and after the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 many movie theaters have had trouble bouncing back. This new national holiday is in response of the news that the Cineworld chain that owns Regal Cinemas may be filing for bankruptcy.

Going to the movies can get expensive when you add in taxes and snacks, but now on National Cinema Day you can get movie tickets for a flat $3 rate including IMAX and XD specialty screenings and here are the theaters in Shreveport participating.

"We wanted to join the effort of selling discounted tickets to our community this weekend," said RFC Executive Director Wendell Riley. "But we wanted to take it one step further and offer $3 tickets over three days, to celebrate a return to cinemas, to say thank you to our patrons and to recognize that in the current economic climate many people are looking for affordable entertainment options."

While Cinemark and Regal will be only celebrating on Saturday, September 3, the Robinson Film Center will be extending the deal for Friday, September 2 - Sunday, September 4.
