Dec. 27—Here's to you, '22.

As the year comes to a close, there's no better way to reflect on the past year and celebrate the incoming 365 days than with a night on the town on New Year's Eve.

Celebrations are taking place across the region this year, and we've rounded up the concerts, parties and more happening this Saturday, Dec. 31. Just make sure to check with venues before you go for any updates to their plans.

So, raise a glass to say goodbye to 2022, and welcome in happiness, good times and good vibes in 2023.

New Year's Eve Dinner

New Year's Eve 2023

Regional light displays

For those looking for a cozy or socially distant New Year's Eve plans, take a ride to visit the many merry light displays around the region.

Grab your winter coat, some hot cocoa and hop in the car to visit these bright spots.

The Times-Tribune's 12 Days of Christmas Lights

Each year, Times-Tribune's elves head out in search of the best Christmas lights and most festive displays throughout the area. The top dozen are part of an annual countdown, 12 Days of Christmas Lights, in which a different home is displayed daily in the newspaper leading up to Christmas.

Operation Noel

When: Daily through Saturday, Jan. 7

Where: Church Street and various surrounding areas in Jessup

Details: Each year, decorations are either in need of maintenance or updates. Volunteers are welcome as well. Donations can be sent to Operation Noel, c/o Jessup Borough Building, 395 Lane St., Jessup, PA 18434.

Holiday Light Spectacular

When: Daily, 5 to 10 p.m., through early January

Where: Nay Aug Park, Scranton; enter at Mulberry Street and Arthur Avenue

Enter the annual light display by the Everhart Museum and then wind your way through Nay Aug Park, taking in various seasonal scenes, illuminated by more than 25,000 LED light bulbs. Kids can drop their letters to Santa in a special mailbox, and each letter will receive a response if a return address is included. Admission is free, but donations are accepted at the end to support the display.

Festival of Lights

Where: Stone Hedge Golf Course, 55 Stonehedge Drive, Tunkhannock Twp.

When: through Saturday, Dec. 31; Sundays through Thursdays, 5 to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 5 to 10 p.m.

On this drive-through Christmas display, visitors will see tons of illuminated trees, shrubs, characters and scenes in every color of the rainbow. After the tour, grab some food and drinks at the pavilion or gather around one of the free fire pits.

Peckville Christmas House

Where: 1130 Marion St., Peckville

When: Through Saturday, Jan. 7; Mondays through Thursdays, 5 to 9 p.m.; Fridays through Sundays, 5 to 10 p.m.

Brothers Matt and Jeff Harhut set up about 2,200 blow molds and more than 150,000 lights in their yards each Christmas, which earned them national recognition. Guests can tour via a walking path. They also may want to wear boots when visiting since the path can turn muddy after inclement weather.

Christmas light drive-through display

Where: 454 Delaware St., Carbondale

When: Through Sunday, Jan. 1; Fridays and Saturdays, 6 to 11 p.m., and Sundays, 6 to 9 p.m.

Thousands of lights and displays, scenes with hand-painted cutouts and photo opportunities with Christmas characters. The route is made up of unpaved, gravel roadways so cars with four-wheel drive are recommended. Inclement weather may affect hours.

Tinsel Trail

Where: Memorial Park, 27 N. Main St., Carbondale

When: Through Sunday, Jan. 1, dusk

Various community groups and organizations have sponsored the 54 lighted and decorated trees in this year's display, set up in downtown Carbondale.

Christmas Lights House

Where: 300 Prospect Ave., Scranton

Started by the Smurl family, this display has spread across several neighboring properties through the years and features thousands of lights and various seasonal scenes, creating a winter wonderland in the heart of South Side.

The Holiday House

Where: 638 Moosic St., Scranton

The Culkin family has spent decades entertaining crowds with its elaborate Christmas display, which has featured not only lights but also blow molds, lighted characters and even live animals at times. To view the display, head uphill on Moosic Street and then turn down Herz Court, which runs alongside the home.
