Celebrate Your Senior! Caring East Hampton Teen Leads By Example

EAST HAMPTON, NY — For so many students who should have been enjoying senior year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events, the coronavirus crisis has meant that sadly, dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior!" launched Monday, inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by coronavirus.

Deme and Steve Minskoff nominated their daughter Lillie Minskoff, a senior at East Hampton High School.

"Lillie prides herself on being a good student and is in the top 10 percent of her class," they wrote.

Lillie, they said, is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, and the World Language Honor Society.

"As a result of all her hard work, she is the recipient of the New York State Senate Youth Leadership Award, the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, and the Lions Club Student Recognition Award. When she is not busy in school she likes to give back to the community," her parents said. "Lillie has more than 300 hours of community service and her favorite way of giving back is by working with the students at Project Most. In between sports seasons, you will find her tutoring students who attend Project Most."

Athletics have played a huge role in Lillie's high school experience, the Minskoffs said.

She played varsity soccer for two years and was on the track and field team for five years, where she served as team captain.

In the summer Lillie keeps busy working at the Amagansett Beach Hut.

When she has free time she likes to pursue her hobbies which include art, photography, and hanging out with her friends.

"She is a true and loyal friend, confident and caring, and a leader who believes in leading by example," her parents added.

"We are so proud that Lillie will be attending Pitzer College in Claremont, California," the Minskoffs said. "She will be majoring in mathematics and will be on the Pomona/Pitzer track and field team. All of this couldn't be possible without the support of her family, teachers, and coaches."

Congratulations, Lillie Minskoff!
