LAS CRUCES – Sláinte!

Get ready to hear the Irish cheer Thursday, on St. Patrick's Day, as Las Crucens take part in the yearly celebration of the patron saint of Ireland and Irish culture.

Local businesses are joining in the fun with themed events for adults 21 and up.

Five downtown food and drink establishments are taking part in a St. Paddy’s Day pub crawl. Broken Spoke Taphouse, The Boneyard Cantina, Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery, Zeffiro’s Pizzeria Downtown and RAD Retrocade are participating.

Pub crawlers can pick up a card from any one of the five businesses. Collect a sticker from each location and you can receive a free pint glass. Festivities begin at 3 p.m.

Icebox Brewing Company will be serving Erin’s Green Lite Beer at the Cantina Thursday with a portion of the proceeds going toward cancer research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The band Soulshine will perform live at the venue from 6 to 9 p.m.

RAD will feature performer David James all night on the holiday. Also Thursday is Little Toad’s weekly karaoke night hosted by V&C Music Factory. Stop in between 7 and 11 p.m. to show off your singing skills.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrants can also head over to Picacho Peak Brewing Co. or Amaro Winery & Tap Room for an Irish-themed night out. Picacho Peak will host live music by Dave Olguin from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Don't forget to incorporate some crimson with your green outfit. No. 12 New Mexico State and No. 5 Connecticut tip off at 4:50 p.m. in the NCAA Tournament. The Round of 64 game from Buffalo, N.Y., is being broadcast nationally on TNT.
