Celebrating Ash Wednesday but cannot make it to church? Here are some Augusta-area options

Between work hours, Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day, Wednesday is likely to be a full schedule for many. For those who don't want to miss getting an Ash Wednesday blessing, there are multiple fast-and-easy options in the Augusta area

Here's a look at some of the places where ashes will be available.

Vineyard Church's welcome center will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for prayer. Ashes will be available at the daily office 6-6:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m. There will also be an Ash Wednesday worship service 6:30-7:15 p.m. The church is located in Augusta at 3126 Parrish Rd.

Lewis Memorial UMC will offer ashes at Ubora Coffee in Evans at 116 N. Belair Rd. 6:30-8:30 a.m. There will also be a fellowship dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a worship service at 7:30 p.m. at the Evans church at 5555 Hereford Farm Rd.

Valentine's and Ash Wednesday: Here are some romantic date ideas that are Ash Wednesday friendly in Augusta area

St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church will have ashes available under their portico 7-8:25 a.m. in Augusta at 3321 Wheeler Rd. The church will have services at noon and 7 p.m. that can be streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Grace UMC in North Augusta will bring back its drive-thru ashes 8-9 a.m. There will also be a service at 12:30 and 7 p.m.

Quest Church's auditorium will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for anyone wanting ashes and a self-guided prayer experience. It's in Grovetown at 5001 Gateway Blvd. An Ash Wednesday message will be available online at thequestonline.com.

Woodlawn UMC will offer "ashes-to-go" at the Augusta Common in downtown Augusta from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bethel and Wesley Chapel United Methodist's drive-thru ashes will be available noon-1 p.m. in Jackson at 416 2nd St. The line starts in front of the church sanctuary on 2nd St. and those interested will have to stay in their vehicles.
