Celebrating legal weed in NYC: Here are the best 4/20 events across the city

Happy 4/20! New Yorkers can get lit and celebrate cannabis and its burgeoning legal industry across the city.

There’s a handful of legal shops to get your ganja (plus a gray market smoke shop on nearly every block) but if you want to do more than hotbox your shoe box apartment, here’s the rundown on where to spark up and get the good vibes rolling in NYC.

House of Cannabis 4/20 celebration

House of Cannabis, or THC NYC, a new immersive weed museum in SoHo, promises a blazing good time at their 4/20 block party. The all-day event, at 427 Broadway, will feature live music, free treats and gifts and a special performance by A Boogie wit da Hoodie at 4:20 p.m. You can also walk through the museum’s 10 multisensory experiences created by artists and filmmakers, centered around cannabis culture.

Puff in The Park

Black Girls Smoke, a cannabis company geared toward women of color, is returning to Prospect Park for its third annual 4/20 celebration. The picnic-style kickback is gratis. Starting at 2 p.m., you can chill in the park with DJs, live music and vendors. It’s BYO-blanket and snacks, though.

Annual 420 Event at Friends NYC

The vintage clothing store Friends NYC is partnering with Dad Grass, CANN, and Union Square Travel Agency, one of the few legal dispensaries in NYC, for an all-day event at their 56 Bogart St, Bushwick storefront. From 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., shoppers can get 20% off in store and online, along with gift with purchase.

Sackville & Co Pop Up at The Shop

From April 20 through May 20, Sackville & Co., a woman-owned stoner brand, is hosting a pop-up shop at The Shop at The Standard, High Line at 848 Washington St in Manhattan. The brand sells NYC-inspired weed streetwear, and design-minded grinders and papers. Stop by on 4/20 — the first 50 people through the door get a free tote stocked with goodies.

Lifted 420 Festival

Get lit at this Brooklyn festival with indoor and outdoor space, DJs, giveaways, food and drinks. The 8-hour party, 23 Meadow St., Brooklyn, is hosted by UptownFunk Events and starts at 4:20 p.m.

Sesh in the park

VIBES, a brand of rolling papers, is collaborating with Scarr’s Pizza and the Smashed burger restaurant to host a Washington Square Park bash from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. You’ll find people blazing up in the park any day of the week, but this day is special — merchandise and munchies will be available for purchase, including a limited-time Pizzaburger, which uses slices of pizza as hamburger buns.

Pizza & A Movie

O lly Olly Market, 601 W 26th St., in Chelsea is hosting a special 4/20 version of their regular Pizza & A Movie event. Watch cult classic flick “Pineapple Express” and chow down on Hawaiian Pizza, drizzled with housemade spicy maple syrup. Their happy hour deal — any two slices and Narragansett tall boy for $15 — will also be available.

4/20 Cannabis Celebration at The Alchemist’s Kitchen

The SoHo shop will host a 4/20 day with elixirs, infused baked goods by maker Happy Chef, edibles, and beverages and complimentary samplings. By attending the free event, 119 Crosby St., guests will be registered in a raffle giveaway, and tarot reading will be available to early birds. The event starts at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

From Seed to Mainstream: Impact of Cannabis on our Health, Businesses, and Economy Networking at the Bronx Museum of Arts

Reflect on pot’s impact on New Yorkers’ lives with cannabis experts and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, NYC Department of Small Business Services and the NYS Latino Cannabis Association. A “fireside chat” discussion will cover cannabis and its influence on health, businesses and the economy. Networking, snacks and cocktails will be available at the event, which takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx.

5th New York Cannabis Freedom Festival

The Crown Heights festival, 1065 Pacific St., will have music, guest speakers and vendor exhibits, with an aim to bridge the gap between cannabis-positive entrepreneurs and consumers.

NYC Cannabis Parade

It’s not technically on 4/20, but the 50th annual NYC Cannabis Parade on May 6 is a can’t miss event for cannabis connoisseurs. Beginning at 11 a.m., revelers will gather and march from 33rd Street down Broadway to end with a four-hour rally at Union Square Park ‘til 5 p.m. The rally will feature elected officials, industry experts and activists, plus a musical lineup with artists Redman, 420 Funk Mob and Immortal Technique.
