Celebrating LI Seniors: Future FIT Student, Talented Dancer

BAYPORT—BLUE POINT, NY — Many senior students on Long Island were expecting to celebrate their final year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events. However, the coronavirus crisis has meant that dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior," inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by the pandemic.

Laura and Alex Segarra nominated their daughter, Maddie Segarra, a senior at Bayport-Blue Point High School.

Here's what the proud parents had to say about Maddie:

We are nominating her because she has worked extremely hard throughout her high school years and has accomplished so much! She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is an active member of her school’s Interact Club which is a community service based club. Maddie has also been a lead dancer in all four of BBPs musicals. She dances at RELEVE Dance Centre where she also enjoys being a student teacher with the younger dancer. Maddie will be attending The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan this Fall where she was accepted into the Fashion Business Management Program.

Maddie along with all of her classmates, the BBP class of 2020, have made all of the parents and the community so very proud! We celebrate each and every one of them during this unprecedented time.

Congratulations to Maddie Segarra!
