In Celebration of Mother's Day local shops share ideas that could be the perfect gift

With Mother's Day approaching Sunday, May 8, heartwarming gifts such as jewelry, pottery vases, flowers and gift baskets are beginning to fill local gift and floral shops that can make the perfect gift.

If you haven't bought a Mother's Day gift yet, there is still time, and a flower arrangement might make the best gift for mom this year.

Here are some of the arrangements some local florist shops are offering this Mother's Day.

Brandon Bougard, store manager of A Daisy A Day florist shop in Jackson, has created a way to make a portion of Mother's Day shopping more feasible.

"We just started a flower subscription for mothers that can be bought on our website or here in the store," Bougard said. "The subscriptions start at a three-month package for $225 that includes a $75 arrangement delivery. Also, we have a 6-month package for $450 that will include a six flower arrangement for each month. Lastly, we have a pottery project we just incorporated in partnership with our shop that will soon be released for purchases before Mother's Day."

Robert Whitley, manager of Whitley's Flowers in Jackson said their new flower arrangements make a great gift for Mother's Day.

"Whitley's Florist & Flower Delivery is family owned and operated," Whitley said. "We have fresh flower Mother's Day arrangements that includes plants, corsages and fruit baskets that are uniquely made here in our shop that are available for purchase. The list of flowers range from roses, lilies, hydrangeas, hybrids and gerberas. The services we provide with our flowers range from about $49.99 to $150. Our fruit baskets are $50 depending on the size, and our corsage prices vary."

Jenny Lambright, office manager at Mostly Martha's located in Ridgeland their store has a wide variety of options to choose from for Mother's Day.

"We have a gift shop area in the front the store that has containers, candy and customized silk arrangements for tables," Lambright said. "In the back of the store we sell flower reefs, individual flower arrangements more suitable for Mother's Day, gift bags and plants. All of our prices are located within our website with additional descriptions of our items."
