Ariana Grande's breakup anthem is ringing true throughout Hollywood as 2018 comes to a close: Dozens of high-profile couples chose this year to throw in the towel, from summer flings to decades-long marriages.
The year of heartbreak began with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, whose divorce announcement came as a sad surprise to well-wishing fans. From there the floodgates were wide open, with failed engagements and messy splits dominating headlines through the calendar year.
HGTV star Jonathan Scott said his split from Jacinta Kuznetsov was mutual, but just eight months later, she got engaged, raising a few eyebrows.
Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka spent months excitedly talking about their impending nuptials -- “With all the planning I want it to be perfect, and you can’t rush something like this," she said in August -- but their engagement came to a definitive end in November.
At least Hilton and Zylka canceled it with time to spare, in contrast to John Cena and Nikki Bella, who called off their wedding just a month in advance.
