Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay cooks up defamation suit against Montreal eatery
MONTREAL - Bad-boy celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has cooked up a lawsuit against his former Montreal restaurant.
Lawyers for Ramsay have served notice in Quebec Superior Court that he wants nearly $2.7 million from his former partners in Laurier Gordon Ramsay.
He wants compensation for alleged defamation and lost licence fees.
Ramsay's name was pulled from the restaurant's logo in February after his partners complained about his lack of involvement in the eatery.
The British chef, who appears on several reality shows and has written a slew of cookbooks, hooked up with the faded Laurier Avenue restaurant last year with great fanfare.
He did a cooking demonstration at the launch and revamped the menu.
The former Laurier BBQ had long been known for its comfort food and chicken.
Ramsay promised to bring the restaurant back to its former profitability.
The restaurant is now known as Laurier 1936.
