U.S. women's soccer is going Hollywood,

As an ownership group including Oscar-winner Natalie Portman announced it will set-up a pro women's soccer team in Los Angeles.

'Black Swan' star Portman will invest along with more than a dozen former players from the U.S. women's national side.

Fellow A-listers Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Garner are also part of the group.

As is tennis star Serena Williams.

The new team - which is yet to be named - was announced by the National Women's Soccer League on Tuesday (July 21).

In a statement, Portman said she was excited to announce the 'first women majority-owned and led ownership group'.

She said she was 'thrilled' to bring 'a professional women's soccer team to LA'.

The new side will be the 11th to enter the league, which was founded in 2012.

U.S. women's soccer has seen big success in recent years, with the country winning the World Cup in 2015 and 2019.

Portman is also joined by Olympic gold medalist Abby Wambach in the investment group - named 'Angel City'.
