Celebrity Hunted spoilers follow.

The social media team for Celebrity Hunted had a blunder earlier today, with Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice being mistaken for This Morning chef Gino D’Acampo.

The dancer was unveiled as a participant for next year’s series of the Channel 4 show, but Hunted made an error when announcing the news via its Twitter account.

As per previous series, the Hunted account announced the news in the style of a wanted poster, writing: “Have you seen this celebrity fugitive? Giovanni Pernice,” but the photo was of chef D’Acampo instead.

The gaffe understandably drew a lot of attention on social media, with mathematician Bobby Seagull — a contestant in the most recent series — quipping: “The Hunters are into comedy now I see.”

In addition to Pernice, the cast for the 2024 series of Celebrity Hunted includes Christine McGuinness, Danielle Harold, Denise Welch, Duncan James, Kai Widdrington, Kimberly Hart-Simpson and Lincoln Townley.

The most recent series saw all runaways captured before they could complete their objective, with Seagull coming the closest to evading the Hunters.

Former Strictly contestant Saffron Barker, who was paired with Seagull, spoke about her experiences of filming the show, revealing that she risked capture for certain “essentials.”

“I did actually risk getting caught for a Nando's,” she revealed. “I went many days without [it] and there's not many days I go without Nando's, so I thought, 'Why not?' There's no good excuse I can give, I was just craving it.

“I also risked getting caught for a spray tan one day as well, but some things have got to be done,” she added, before talking about her partnership with Seagull. “Bobby is a genius but I consider myself quite street-smart. I was actually quite surprisingly good. We did very well.”

Celebrity Hunted airs on Channel 4 in support of Stand Up to Cancer.
