Will Smith went viral earlier this month when he shared a photo of his tummy and admitted to being in the "worst shape" of his life. He swiftly followed this up with another Instagram post announcing his plans to embark on a dramatic 90-day personal fitness journey to lose weight, build muscle, and generally get as fit as possible.

The transformation will be documented in a YouTube webseries, giving Smith's fans an inside look at exactly how much hard work and dedication it takes for Hollywood stars to get shredded for roles. Smith was keen to clarify that his post was not fat-shaming anybody who has put on weight during the last year, saying: "This is the body that carried me through the pandemic... I love this body but I want to FEEL better."

Since news dropped that Smith is getting ripped, a number of other celebrities have been inspired to join him and try to achieve their own fitness goals in that 90-day period, including losing their "dad bods," in what has now been dubbed the #BigWillieChallenge.

Chris Spencer

Stand-up comedian Chris Spencer was among the first to take up the "Big Willie Challenge" on social media, saying: "Goodbye cookies and hello spinach!" He has already posted a progress pic, saying he can already see some results after just one week of working out and changing his diet.

Flex Alexander

The actor Flex Alexander, perhaps best known for his role in cinematic masterpiece Snakes on a Plane, jumped on the challenge with his own shirtless mirror selfie. "It's on," he said. "No trainers no cheating!" He is now posting regular gym updates and his enthusiasm shows no sign of waning.

Marlon Wayans

While he didn't namecheck Smith in his shirtless selfie, comic actor Marlon Wayans also pledged to get rid of his "dad body" by the summer, giving himself a deadline of July 23. "It's gonna be sick," he said. While Wayans still looks pretty in-shape in the photo, it sounds like he might be trying to get back to his G.I. Joe-era shredded abs.

Anthony Anderson

Not long after sharing a viral meme on his Instagram to joke about getting his "summer body" ready, Black-ish star Anthony Anderson shared a proud, hands-on-hips shirtless photo, and also disclosed his current weight of 223.4 pounds.

"Challenge accepted! Let's go!" He said.

Dr. Dre

Hip-hop star Dr. Dre probably has non-aesthetic reasons for investing time and energy in getting fit, after a health scare earlier this year; he was hospitalized in January after suffering a serious brain aneurysm which led to a lengthy healing period. Now that he has fully recovered, he is setting new health goals for 2021.

"This is my COVID body," the rapper and producer wrote on Instagram. "I'm about to start getting my shit together." For reference, Dre already looks like he's on his way to getting said shit together in the shirtless photo he shared, with a fair bit of visible definition already on show. Of course, everybody's physique goals are personal and relative, so we can probably expect Dre to look even more cut in three months' time.
