STORY: There's now cell service in Antarctica,

thanks to Norway’s Telenor

Location: Troll research station, Antarctica

The company has brought regular cell service to

a corner of the frozen continent for the first time

The 4G network will boost security and help with the

collection of real-time data at the Troll research station

The technology here is the same as elsewhere

but special provisions were made to protect the

equipment from the harsh climate, Telenor says
