The matchup is officially set. The Boston Celtics will square off with the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs.

Game 1 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series will tip off Saturday, April 15, at 3:30 p.m. at TD Garden in Boston and will be broadcast on ESPN. Game 2 will be on Tuesday, April 18, and will be broadcast nationally on NBATV and will be available on NBC Sports Boston locally.

The series will then shift to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 will be on Friday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. The series’ possible close-out Game 4 will tip-off on Sunday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. on TNT.

If Atlanta steals at least one game, the Hawks will return to Boston on Tuesday, April 25th for Game 5. If the series is extended even further, Game 6 will be in Atlanta on April 27.

In the unlikely event of a Game 7, the Celtics will have homecourt advantage in a Saturday, April 29 showdown at the TD Garden.

Atlanta defeated the Miami Heat on Tuesday night in a playoff play-in game to set up the matchup with the No. 2 seed Celtics.

Boston swept the Hawks during the regular season, winning all three games and scoring an average of 127 points per game:

  • Nov. 16, 2022: Boston defeats Atlanta, 126-101

  • March 11, 2023: Boston defeats Atlanta, 134-125

  • April 9, 2023: Boston defeats Atlanta, 120-114

Jayson Tatum (30.1 ppg) and Jaylen Brown (26.6 ppg) enter the series as Boston’s top two leading scorers. Trae Young (26.2 ppg) and Dejounte Murray (20.5 ppg) lead the Hawks’ scoring attack.
