Celtics injury update: Brown, Thompson, Langford OUT vs. Orlando Magic (5/5)

Multiple Boston Celtics will be joining All-Star forward Jaylen Brown in sitting out tonight’s road contest with the Orlando Magic per the team, with veteran big man Tristan Thompson and second-year shooting guard Romeo Langford joining the Georgia native as scratches for the tilt.

Brown recently aggravated a sprain of his right ankle in a collision with teammate Jayson Tatum at the end of a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, and should be day-to-day after tonight’s game. Thompson had been listed as questionable with a strained left pectoral muscle, and has since been downgraded to out. Langford is out because he is now in the league’s concussion protocol after a collision in yesterday’s practice, according to head coach Brad Stevens.

Brown did not travel with the team, but may join Boston in Chicago for Friday’s game, according to the head coach.

Both Langford and Thompson have missed extended periods of this season to stays in the league’s health and safety protocol, with the former missing all of the season before that to a lengthy rehabilitation after surgery on his wrist in the offseason.

Given the Magic will be sitting eight players of their roster, the Celtics should be able to win this game handily regardless, but there is always the worry Boston will play down to their opponent yet again.
