Celtics star Jayson Tatum is nearing a return to the floor, but he won’t be on the court Friday as the Celtics try to avenge a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Tatum has not played since January 8th, since he scored 32 points in a win against the Wizards and later entered the NBA’s health and safety protocol. The Wizards have since had their last six games postponed due to COVID-19 issues, after several teams experienced positive tests after playing the Wizards.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said on Wednesday that Tatum has been cleared of health and safety protocol and would increase his conditioning workload to be ready to return. Tatum won’t be back for the end of a two-game series with the Sixers on Friday, though, as the team announced it’s injury report for the upcoming game.

Carsen Edwards and Romeo Langford are also out, while Aaron Nesmith is questionable with low back spasms.
