Branch Area Careers Center re-introduces community enrichment classes

Branch Area Careers Center is again offering Community Enrichment Classes beginning Sept. 12. Historically, a variety of classes was offered each semester but it was interrupted by the pandemic.

As administrators work to bring back the program, they will offer fall options on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.

Monday

  • Introduction to welding techniques: The six-week class is 6-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 12; tuition is $175. Instruction will be on basic welding techniques and skills for home and industry, including MIG, TIG, plasma welding and ARC welding to enhance employment opportunities. David Rinehart is the instructor.

Tuesday:

  • Ashli’s Yoga: The eight-week class is 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning Set. 13. Tuition is $50. Instruction in basic yoga postures and breathing techniques to enhance flexibility, strength, improve balance and to help reduce muscular tension and stress. It is open for any age or fitness level. Ashli Vogler is the instructor.

Wednesday:

  • Auto body repair and custom painting: The eight-week class begins Sept. 14. Tuition is $185 and is created for beginner students in the areas of shop safety, techniques of dent removal, repair, pinging, virtual reality spray gun and MIG welding. Materials and supplies are provided. Tony MacArthur is the instructor.

  • Desktop Publishing with Microsoft Publisher is 5-7 p.m. The six-week class begins Sept. 14 and tuition is $65. Susan Sobeske, the instructor, will lead participants through creating professional looking invitations,, greeting cards, posters, logos, business cards, letterhead, brochures, flyers, newsletters and printed documents for personal or professional use.
