Here are the top stories in Center Moriches-Eastport today:

  1. Why did the chicken cross the road? Why, to get to Riverhead silly. Chick-fil-A restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches is now included as part of Long Island Cauliflower Association’s proposed 42,000-square-foot retail project in Riverhead. The proposed Chick-fil-A in Riverhead would have 70-indoor seats and 20 outdoor seats, according to town planning aide Greg Bergman. The nearest Chick-fil-A restaurants are currently in Port Jefferson and Smithtown. (Riverhead News Review)

  2. To honor veterans for their service more than 11,000 wreaths were placed at the final resting place of our fallen warriors in Calverton National Cemetery. The wreaths were provided through corporate sponsorships, private donations and fundraisers. Hundreds of volunteers across Long Island took part in “Wreaths Across America” – a national movement to place wreaths at the gravesites of service members at more than 2,500 cemeteries across the country. (News 12 Bronx)

  3. There are several holiday drives happening now in the Hamptons: East Hampton Kiwanis Toy Drive, Sag Harbor Kids Need Warmth Coat Drive and Boy Scout Troop 483 Drive Thru Canned Food Drive are three to check out. (Dan's Papers)
