  1. Amy Wesolowski, 34, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated DWI with a child; she was held for morning arraignment, police said. Wesolowski's daughter, Gracelyn Perkowski, 4, was critically injured when her mother's car collided with a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan on Flanders Road. Officials said Southampton Town Animal Control Officer Colleen Kidd, "quickly sprang into action" and saved the little girl's life. (Riverhead News Review)

  2. If you have a student loan with Navient, you are in luck. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that Navient loan company has been ordered to pay back more than $1.7 billion in debt cancelation nationwide for deceptive practices, including $110 million to around 4,300 New York student borrowers. If you will have your loans canceled, you will receive a notice from Navient by July 2022, authorities said. Refunds on any payments of the canceled loans made after June 30, 2021, will also be refunded. No action is required from loan borrowers to receive these funds. (Smithtown Patch)

  3. In Suffolk County, 1,176,064 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,723. On the whole, Long Island's COVID-19 positivity rate continues to a steady decline. New cases are still at a little over 8,500 per day with nearly 2,200 Long Island residents being treated for COVID-19 at hospitals. (Press Release Desk)
