Centerville officer, Washington Twp. firefighter remembered 25 years after line-of-duty deaths

25 years after their line-of-duty deaths, a Centerville police officer and Washington Township Firefighter/EMT are still being remembered.

On January 12, 1998, Centerville Police Officer John P. Kalaman and Firefighter/EMT Robert J. O’Toole of the Washington Township Fire Department were struck and killed by a motorist while responding to an accident on I-675.

“We will continue to miss and honor both of them,” the Washington Twp. Fire Department said in a social media post.

The Centerville Police Department posted a photo on social media showing officers laying a wreath at Officer Kalaman’s grave.

“May they rest in peace and never be forgotten by the community they served,” the police department said.
