Central Crossing's Malik Kamara named Columbus area high school athlete of the week
In a vote that ended Sept. 9, Dispatch.com readers selected the Athlete of the Week for competitions that took place from before Sept. 4.
This week's winner is Central Crossing football player Malik Kamara.
Kamara rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown and had a 94-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 21-14 win over Westland.
Kamara received 34.1% of the vote and was followed by Columbus Academy soccer player Nicholas Dunaway (17%), Grove City football player Jaeson Thrweatt (12.2%), Grove City Christian soccer player Shawn Williamson (9.6%), Delaware Hayes football player Jake Lowman (8.6%), Westerville North football player Stanley Jackson (7.8%) and Bloom-Carroll football player Andrew Marshall (5.3%).

Dunaway, the runner-up, contributed to a 4-0 win over Whitehall Yearling.
Thrweatt rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in a 42-26 win over Thomas Worthington.

The Athlete of the Week voting recognizes athletes across all sports.
Nominations are due Monday mornings for competitions that took place the previous week.
